The 159th New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta presented by Rolex started Friday, June 14 with a separately scored around-the-island race and then led into a competitive weekend series. Paralympic medalist Jennifer French and kitesurfing world champ Johnny Heineken receive their awards at the St. Francis YC in San Francisco.
Johnny Heineken, the 2012 Kiteboarding Course Racing World Champion, and Jen French, the 2012 Paralympic Silver Medalist in the SKUD-18 class, were named US Sailing’s 2012 Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year.

Nearly 200 international yachts flocked to this sun-kissed town to celebrate the Giraglia Rolex Cup’s 60th anniversary this year. The regatta is aptly nicknamed “Queen of the Mediterranean,” both for its historic roots and its magnificent scenery. Oh, and the fierce conditions and competition that await the daring competitors. Esimit Europa 2 smashed the race record by over three hours, completing the 242-nautical mile race from Saint-Tropez, France to Sanremo, Italy, in just over 14 hours.[
