The 2012 Sperry Top-Sider/ICSA Women’s National Semifinals and Finals Championships were held on Lake Travis in Austin, TX, from May 30 to June 2. The teams saw everything from 0 knots to 30 knots. In the final national rankings of the spring season, Georgetown leads both the coed and women’s rankings. Charleston, Stanford, Yale, and Boston College round out the coed top five, while Boston College holds a close second in the women’s rankings.
Student athletes at Hobart and William Smith stay on top of their game despite the cold temperatures of Geneva, N.Y.
Yale hangs on to the lead in the coed rankings, while Georgetown and Roger Williams make moves into the top three. In the women’s rankings, Georgetown and Brown tie up at the top with Stanford close on their heels.
As I stood back and watched water gush from the stern-plug of my Laser, the disappointing reality hit me. My boat, the first and only one I’ve ever owned—and surprisingly watertight to this day—was no longer whole. “Editor’s Letter” from our May 2012 issue.
With sailing season rapidly approaching, the pressure to finish work on the Sled intensifies.
