Yale gets the perfect score in the third rankings of the fall college sailing season; all 25 coaches who voted selected the team as the top pick for the coed and women’s rankings. Boston College ranks second in both polls, while Georgetown takes third in the coed poll and Navy places third in women’s.

Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta

To help launch the partnership formed between the the EDHEC Sailing Cup and Storm Trysail Foundation, for the first time two crews from Europe were invited to compete in the Storm Trysail Foundation’s Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta at Larchmont YC. Georgetown won the trip to the 46th EDHEC Sailing Cup in les Sables-d’Olonne, France next April. They sailed an Express 37, owned by Richard du Moulin.

Yale sits firmly atop the coed and women’s polls in the second ranking of the fall season. Stanford and Boston College round out the top three coed teams, while Dartmouth and Boston College rank second and third in the women’s poll.

Juan Maegli, two-time Olympian and the 2013 College Sailor of the Year, managed to balance an Olympic campaign with a successful college sailing career. His secrets? First, if you don’t feel like sailing at 100 percent, don’t sail at all; second, invest in a hiking bench.

Young, but Hardly Green

After just two years of college sailing, Dartmouth’s Deirdre Lambert was named Quantum Women’s College Sailor of the year, on top of earning All-American honors. Despite such success so early on in her college sailing career, Lambert remains grounded and focused on improvement—for not only herself, but for the entire Big Green sailing team.
