The third annual Atlantic Cup kicked off in Charleston, S.C., on May 11 as seven Class 40 teams set off for New York City. The second leg of the competition departs on May 18 at 2 p.m. The annual event culminates in Newport, R.I. with two days of Inshore racing (May 25-26).
The third edition of the Atlantic Cup features three legs, seven teams, and a heavy payout to the winners.
Chinese skipper Guo Chuan completed a solo non-stop circumnavigation in a Class 40 and set a new world record of 137 days, 20 hours, 1 minute and 57 seconds on April 5.
