About 50 JS 9000s are sailing worldwide, according to David Polinsky, the boat’s U.S. West Coast importer in San Francisco. Most of them are in Europe (England and Switzerland), with Australia, the United States and Asia showing increasinginterest. There are multiple builders, aside from Swarbrick in Australia: There’s Admiralty Marine in Singapore and another outfit in Croatia. U.S. boats will be built by Admiralty, also known as OEM producers of Grand Banks motor yachts and military RIBs. “In consideration of the special needs of the U.S. market, Admiralty will upgrade the lay-up schedule with carbon in high-stress areas and outfit the boats with all Harken hardware,” Polinsky said. There will be a 40-foot version of the boat as well, which will be exclusively produced by Admiralty. A second dealer, JS Yachts USA, of Gulfport, Miss., is selling boats to the East and Gulf Coasts. Sailaway price with road trailer and high-end sails is approximately $45,000. One-design rules are under construction. -D.L.
