THE SPERRY TOP-SIDER
NATIONAL OFFSHORE ONE-DESIGN REGATTA
Marblehead Race Week
Marblehaed Racing Association July 26 – 29, 2007 Marblehead, MA

Sailing World and Marblehead Racing Association (MRA) are the
Co-Organizing Authorities for this regatta and MRA will provide race
management.

1. RULES
This regatta shall be governed by the Rules as defined by the
Racing Rules of Sailing 2004-2008 (RRS). The regatta is subject to the
advertising restrictions as defined in ISAF Regulation 20. Those classes
satisfying Appendix 1 qualifications for Category C are urged to
refrain from displaying advertisements for businesses or products
competing with those of the primary and support sponsors of the
event.

2. PERSONAL FLOTATION
Personal flotation shall be worn as required by class rules.
Competitors should be aware that the race committee may display
Flag “Y” in accordance with RRS 40.

3. ELIGIBILITY
3.1
. The regatta is open to any boat that is either: a) a member of a
recognized class association for entry in this regatta’s One-Design
classes, or; b) a boat that meets the criteria established for this regatta
by the class coordinator for entry in a level class; and provided that
each class has a minimum entry of six boats. The Organizing
Authority reserves the right to invite additional classes that do not
meet all the requirements.
3.2 Potential classes: Colgate 26, Corinthian, Etchells, IOD, J/24, J/30,
J/105, Rhodes 19, S2 7.9, Skud 18, Sonar, Town Class, and Viper 640.
3.3 The NOOD Regattas are open to those boats whose Owner and/or
Skipper is a current member of their National Governing Body (US
SAILING for USA members; to join call 1-800-877-2451.)
3.4 Except for wooden-hulled boats, easily removable bow stickers
shall be attached to the forward 25% of both sides of the boat’s hull
at all times while racing. The stickers are to be carried with the top
approximately 6″-10″ below deck level and with the leading edge
approximately 10″-20″ aft of the bow. Bow stickers will be provided at
Registration in the Skipper’s package.

4. ENTRIES
Classes shall meet eligibility requirements no later than July 16.
Entries received after July 11th will be subject to a $50 late fee. Boats
which have registered for the MRA season championship are exempt
from the entry fee (but not the social fee or the late fee). These MRA
boats must still register and are subject to the late fee. For information
on the Sperry Top-Sider Marblehead NOOD and/or to register
online, please go to www.sailingworld.com. Completed entry forms,
with the entry fee, can also be mailed to Sperry Top-Sider NOOD
Regatta, 55 Hammarlund Way, Middletown, RI 02842 or faxed to 401-
845-5180, and must be accepted by the Organizing Authority. Late
entries may be accepted solely at the discretion of Sailing World and
the Marblehead Racing Association.

    Additional tickets will be $44 after your entry has been submitted and
    at the door.
    MRA entries DO NOT include a social ticket.

5. REGISTRATION
5.1 Each boat owner or his representative must report to the Boston
Yacht Club, between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, or
Thursday, July 26 between 9:00-11:00 am, and 5:00-7:00 pm, to complete
registration details.
5.2 Crew lists and waivers of liability must be submitted at registration.
No boat will be registered without a completed waiver form. In
the event of a crew member substitution during the regatta, the new
crew member must submit a signed waiver of liability to the Race
Committee prior to racing for that boat’s entry to remain valid.
5.3 Sailing instructions will be available at Registration.
Amendments to the Sailing Instructions will be posted at all three
clubs (Corinthian, Boston and Eastern), by 0800 EDT daily. It is the
responsibility of each competitor to check the Official Notice Board
for any amendments or other notices.

6. COURSES
Courses will be sailed off-shore from Marblehead Neck. Course
patterns will be provided with the Sailing Instructions.

7. SCHEDULE OF RACES
It is the intent of the Organizing Authority and the Race
Committee to run as many races as practical on each race day up to a
maximum total of 12 races for the series.
Class Course Assignments will be provided on www.sailingworld.com and will be available at Registration.

**8. MEASUREMENT/WEIGH-IN
**Measurement is not required, but each boat shall submit proof of holding
a valid measurement certificate at registration if required by the class.
Neither the Organizing Authority nor the Boston Yacht Club shall
be responsible for conducting or administrating weigh-ins should
they be required by individual class rules. Local or national class associations
shall be responsible for conducting weigh-ins if needed.

9. SCORING
Each boat’s total score will be the sum of her scores for all races,
amends RRS A2. One race will constitute a series.

10. PRIZES
10.1 Daily and series prizes will be awarded for each class.
10.2 An award will be made to the boat which, in the opinion of
the Organizing Authority, had the best overall performance during
the 2007 Sperry Top-Sider Marblehead NOOD Regatta.

11. BERTHING
Moorings for the regatta may be arranged by calling the
Corinthian, Boston or Eastern Yacht Clubs. Boats from out of town
will need to arrange for a mooring. The Viper 640’s are the only fleet
with haulout priviledges this year.

12. PHOTOGRAPHERS AND TV RIGHTS
Competitors give absolute right and permission for any photographs
or video footage taken of themselves or their competing boat
to be published in any media whatsoever; for either editorial or advertising
purposes, or to be used in press information.
