It’s a new season, which requires new gear and a new attitude, right? Right. That’s why Helly Hansen’s racks at the San Diego and Coronado YCs will be loaded with new offerings for men and women. We asked Helly’s Jenny Daudlin to give us her best picks for SoCal racers.

Helly hansen Newport Bibs

Men’s and Women’s Newport Bib

The first pieces to sell out at the St. Petersburg NOOD were the Newport Bib (which retails for $200). This is a drop-seat bib with construction and detail design taken from the outdoor industry. Instead of being bulky and hard to get into with Velcro down each side, these have a waterproof zipper that unzips from the back of the thigh up and around the lower back and down to the other thigh. They also have an adjustable waist, allowing room for layering. They are fully reinforced in the ankle, knees, and rear as well. Yes, they come in pink, which is awesome, but they also come in navy. Men’s and Women’s Sandham Jacket

This is the perfect lightweight summer sailing piece, perfect for San Diego. It’s made from durable Ripstop nylon and an incredibly lightweight mesh liner allows it to breath better in warm weather. The neck is lined with micro fleece for protection without adding excess warmth, the hood is high visibility and not bulky when it’s tucked away and the cuffs and waist are reinforced.
