O’Day’s (1923-1987) enthusiasm for racing sailboats carried him through a career as a winning America’s Cup assistant helmsman (’62, ’67). He became a boatbuilder after winning an Olympic gold medal in the 5.5-Meter in 1960.
ODay collaborated with Uffa Fox to create and build the Day Sailer. The list of boats that ODay built is far too long to list here, but includes the ODay 20, 23, 27,and the Finn, Soling, and Javelin.
